Women on Web Telemedical Abortion Services in Indonesia and Malaysia

The restrictive abortion law in Indonesia and Malaysia doesn’t prevent any abortion. This research analyses the data from women who contacted Women on Web service in 2015. The Women on Web website had 355,004 visitors from Indonesia and 33,781 visitors from Malaysia in 2015. In total 1.989 women from Indonesia and 1.109 from Malaysia contacted the helpdesk of Women on Web. The figure shows that there is a big need of information and access to safe medical abortion in Indonesia and Malaysia. Research from the WHO has shown that home medical abortion is very safe and effective, as shown by research done by the WHO (2012).
